Our Stories
As Taiwan works to achieve the goals of its ambitious Bilingual 2030 initiative, Auburn College of Education Associate Professor Jamie Harrison recently joined educators and researchers on the front lines of the effort, contributing her expertise on English as the Medium of Instruction while conducting research within one of the nation's leading university systems.
What began as an international academic opportunity quickly became something more for an Auburn College of Education doctoral student: a firsthand look at how music connects people, culture and community across borders. Caleb Norton, a graduate teaching assistant in instrumental music education and doctoral student in Auburn's College of Education, recently traveled to the University of Cape Coast in Ghana, where he engaged in teaching, research and cultural exchange — an experience that is shaping his approach to music education and his future professional goals.
For two weeks this summer, Auburn College of Education students majoring in Elementary Education gained critical hands-on teaching experience with rising first through sixth graders at Project SWAR (social studies, writing, art and reading).
